The Gospel readings for Mass ever since Easter Sunday have carried a remarkable story of hope against all the odds, a story of life in the midst of death. We really need to hold on to those glimpses of light in these troubled days. Such hope informs my prayer for peace in our world, even though it sometime seems far away. I am reminded of something Pope Francis once said, that I quoted on this blog several years ago. He proclaimed with great confidence that God would have the last word, and that last word would be love. May the hope of Easter sustain us as we pray and work for peace.
