THE POWER OF PURE LOVE

by

On Sunday 17th January I attended a Mass for Children and Young people with special educational needs. It was a deeply moving experience. The congregation has now expanded to include adults with other kinds of special needs. The first reading was read by a man who is recovering from a stroke. He held his wife’s arm as he limped up to the lectern. He read by slowly spelling out the words syllable by syllable. I found myself totally focussed on the reading and on the man who read it. I became aware of a total silence in the chapel (there is normally a buzz of noise during this Mass). It seemed that every person present was truly attentive at that moment. The chapel was filled with a love so strong I could feel it. I have reflected on and prayed about that experience ever since. I am sure there was enough love present at that moment to transform all the evil that overshadows us at this time – we simply have to harness and spread it. I pray that we can do this together.

Clare, thank you for sharing this wonderful experience with us. I feel that the love you experienced is still overflowing on your fcJ sisters. It just shows how the Lord can use us at all times especially when we are vulnerable and weak. Many blessings Clare.
