THE CALL TO LOVE OUR ENEMIES…

by

The scripture readings we have been invited to read this Lent are so relevant in light of the current state of our world.  One day last week we were called to “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…” Mt 5:44 and on Monday of this week to “Be compassionate just as your Father is compassionate” Lk 6:36.   That’s a quite a challenge given the violence, division and polarisation we constantly hear about and even witness.  As I have prayed with those readings it has come to me that there is no other way except to respond to hatred and division with love and compassion.  May we all try, in our own small ways, to live with love and compassion and to work for peace with justice – for everyone and for the whole of creation.

    Thankyou Clare for this reminder.
Being compassionate is not always easy, as we all know.
Companionship costs; but it is also one of our most precious gifts.
