MAGIS and World Youth Day

by

I was in Spain for the three weeks of MAGIS and WYD. It was a fantastic experience! The 30 participants of MAGIS UK joined 3000 other Ignatian young people from all around the world for the preparation days in Loyola, before being sent out by Fr Adolfo Nicholas (Jesuit General) to 80 different service projects across Spain and North Africa. We were in mixed language groups for this, and I think for everyone thede projects were a very profound experience.
I found myself in a group who were working alongside prisoners to produce a play! It was an amazing experience which challenged the group to really consider what life is like for those whose freedom is removed.
From these projects we then travelled to Madrid and joined more than one million other young adults in a week of celebration and catechesis which culminated in the closing Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict.
