On Thursday we had our women’s Bible study.  We shared together on the readings for this Sunday, January 23rd and we spent considerable time reflecting on the reading from Matthew 4:18-22 “The first four disciples are called.”  It struck us that just as Jesus called Peter and Andrew when they were busy doing the ordinary things of life – so Jesus calls us in those very ordinary moments too.  This is true for all of us isn’t it?  Just think – when we stop to say hello to a neighbour or pause for a cup of tea with a friend – when we’re washing the pots or busy at work – wherever we are – Jesus is there with us, calling us “Follow me”.  How good it is to think that by living our lives as fully as we can on a day to day basis we are being faithful to our call and doing our part for the reign of God.
